Upcoming Netflix Series

If you’re anything like me, you often end up throwing your remote away after spending a whole evening scrolling through Netflix to pick something to actually watch. Well, to save us all from this frustration, I went through all the series coming to Netflix soon and picked out the ones that we have to put on our list. Get ready for a binge-worthy February and March.

1.    Locke & Key

Locke & Key Netflix Series

Based on the comic book series with the same name, Locke & Key follows the Locke siblings and their mother as they move into the Keyhouse and try to unravel the mystery of their father’s murder. A big reason I’m really excited about this series is that it was co-created by Carlton Cuse (“Lost”, “Bates Motel”) and Meredith Averill (“The Haunting of Hill House”). With such big names behind this series, I am almost certain that Locke & Key will have everyone hooked from the word go.

Release Date: 7 February 2020

2.    Love Is Blind

Love Is Blind Netflix Series

If reality TV is your guilty pleasure (I know it’s mine!), you should definitely anticipate this show. Hosted by celebrity couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the series takes blind dating to a whole other level. Participants choose who they’re going to spend the rest of their lives with, but they don’t get to see what they look like or physically meet them until the decision’s made. You cannot tell me that this concept hasn’t piqued your interest already!

Release Date: 13 February 2020

3.    I Am Not Okay With This

I Am Not Okay With This Netflix Series

You might have already guessed this, but this series was created by the same people who brought to us the masterpiece that was The End of the F***ing World. And, yes, it looks equally promising. Based on a graphic novel of the same name, I Am Not Okay With This follows a teenage girl as she navigates high school, family drama, an unrequited crush on her best friend, and her budding superpowers.

Release Date: 26 February 2020

4.    Queen Sono

Queen Sono Netflix Series

Queen Sono follows a secret agent (played by South African actress Pearl Thusi) as she takes on dangerous criminals while dealing with personal crises of her own. It’s the first original African series on Netflix, and people have been anticipating it since Netflix first announced it in December 2018. I can’t wait to finally binge it.

Release Date: 28 February 2020

5.    Self Made: Inspired by The Life of Madam C.J. Walker

Self Made: Inspired by The Life of Madam C.J. Walker

Starring Hidden Figures actress Olivia Spencer (!!!), this four-part series narrates the true story of trailblazing entrepreneur and the first African-American self-made millionaire Madam C.J. Walker. It’s inspired by the book On Her Own Ground, written by Walker’s great-great-great-granddaughter. And, if the show is anything like the book, it promises to be just as gripping and inspirational.

Release Date: 20 March 2020
